APPLICATION PROCESS: Applications for the secondary school are accepted all year on receipt of application form and registration fee. The application process begins in earnest each September with applicants for 1st year invited to an Open Morning. Interviews are held over a number of weeks and offers are sent to successful candidates prior to Christmas. A non refundable deposit will be required to accept a place offered.    Class Sizes: Class sizes do not exceed 22-24.  Class sizes for option subjects would generally be much lower.  We are committed to offering a variety of subjects to our students which results in class sizes remaining small, affording our students the best possible opportunity to excel at their chosen subjects. Discipline: In CUS we believe in good discipline in order for our pupils to develop and achieve their maximum potential.  Discipline in CUS is firm, but fair.  Class teachers, class heads and Deans of Discipline deal with day to day discipline issues. The Principal and Deputy Principal deal with more serious issues.  Parents are notified in writing of any serious disciplinary issues.       Monthly Marks System: CUS operates a system of weekly marks which measures a pupil's effort in each subject. These marks are given each week by the Class head.  In addition, students in the junior cycle (1st-3rd year) have tests every five/six weeks. A report is sent home to parents with the results of these tests and the weekly marks.  In addition, there are two parent/teacher meetings each year for all year groups.  The students in CUS are encouraged and expected to achieve their maximum potential.  A wide variety of subjects are offered at both junior certificate and leaving certificate level.
