What are the fees?

The fees for both the primary and secondary school are €4500 for the academic year 2009/2010.

What is the catchment area for CUS?

CUS has no catchment area. Students come from all areas in the city, both north and south and from as far away as Wicklow, Ashbourne and Rush.

How do the students travel to school?

Students travel to CUS by train, luas, bus. Some students cycle and others come by car.

How long is the school day?

School begins at 8.45 am and finishes at 3.50 pm with half day on Wednesday afternoons for sport. There is a 30 minute break for lunch at 1.00pm.

What subjects are offered?

CUS offers students a wide, varied choice of subjects which include French, German & Spanish, applied maths, technical graphics, music, all science & business subjects, classical studies, together with the core subjects of English, Irish and maths. Chinese has been introduced for transition year students. The curriculum needs of the students in CUS is closely monitored and the subject choices available are reviewed each year.

What are the class sizes?

The benefits of smaller class sizes are recognised by CUS. Each class group will have approximately 23 students, with option classes ranging from 10 to 23 students per class. The intake for first year each year generally does not exceed 94.

What if my son doesn't want to play rugby?

All first year students are encouraged to play rugby when they start in school as this helps form friendships and builds a unity amongst the year group. However, martial arts, swimming and tennis are also offered on Wednesday afternoons for those students who, after consultation with the Deputy Principal, decide not to play rugby.

Are there any Marist priests in CUS?

Fr Martin Daly sm is principal in CUS. Fr Denis Green sm is Chaplain to the school, giving support and assistance to the RE team.
